Being a US citizen in Canada, I've looked for a way to manage my US bank accounts on my iPhone, but my banks app wasn't available in the Canadian app store, so when Lifehacker posted instructions on how to add apps from multiple countries' app stores I was intrigued. I followed the instructions, and it worked flawlessly. Unfortunately the post has been taken down, so I've recreated the instructions as best as I could from memory. It takes a few minutes, but is pretty simple and straightforward.

  1. In iTunes, log out of your account.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the app store, and you will see a circular flag icon, click that and choose a new country.
  3. Create a new account using an address from the country you want apps from (fast food restaurants typically provide addresses and phone numbers on their websites).
  4. Apple will send an email to confirm your account.
  5. Once confirmed, log into your new account in iTunes.
  6. Download your apps.
  7. You may be asked to authorize your computer, do so.
  8. Select your iPhone in the sidebar, and choose the apps tab.
  9. Make sure your new apps are checked, and sync.
  10. If done properly, your old apps, and new apps will both be on your phone.

Since I only did this a few days ago, I'm not sure of the update process; I don't know if updates will be available via the App Store app, or if they will have to be updated in iTunes and synced that way.
